I can put it back to the default folder and everything works fine. I just cant move the folder. Please Help!! I tried this solution, and although it got rid of the error message, I still cannot access my favorites from IE7 by clicking on the star or the favorites drop down box. I had been able to access my favorites for a couple of weeks after I imported them to my new computer, but after I installed the most recent service pack I cannot acces them anymore. I'd appreciate your help.

I tried "tricking the system" with creating a favorites inside the favorites, adjusted the registry, and then its looking for about 4 favorites folders inside the original, inside each other. I've googled it- and foudn other people with the same problem, no one with a resolution. Monday, December 31, AM. Hi, Thank you for your question. Thursday, January 3, AM. Hi, As this thread has been quiet for a while, we assume that the issue has been resolved.
In some of the cases, this error can be resolved just by restarting the system. But even after resolved your system may not be safe, so you should find the root of the problem and eliminate before it arises again and worsens the situation. Rebooting is a classic trick to fix errors. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not.
Even when you contact a Technical agent he will surely tell you to reboot at first if the error is constant. With two commands you can have access to your desktop.
What these commands do is they create a new user profile where you can actually transfer data from previous corrupted profile. And also, transfer data from previous to the new profile.
In advanced boot recovery, many boot option would appear in front of you. Malware or infected files can be the reasons behind the error. So booting in Safe mode allow you to wipe clean any infected files. Once you are in safe mode, erase all the temporary files. Scan the system with effective malware scanner and reboot to check if things worked out. If, after a restart, Favorites work OK, you should be able to delete the extra Favorites sub-folders.
