The end result was that those audio files no longer work in WMP even after uninstalling real player cloud and even trying a system restore.

Was this software even tested before it was rushed to the public? I have been using both real player and windows media player for many many years. WMP is good at identifying cd music. BUT as more and more things are added to it, it has become more and more unstable. I wont go into the many problems because any regular user will be aware of them. I myself have contacted real support many times, all I ever receive at best is a temporary fix.
